Tooth Wear
A guide for patients who have presented signs of tooth wear.
Tooth wear can arise from three common contributing factors:
External Acid Erosion – Most likely from dietary sources such as fizzy drinks, fruit juices, and other acidic beverages.
Internal Acid Erosion – Possibly related to gastric reflux or other medical conditions that allow stomach acid to enter the mouth.
Bruxism (Tooth Grinding/Clenching) – Resulting in mechanical wear (attrition) of the teeth, particularly on the biting surfaces.
